Expropriation Costs Increased in Election Period
Expenses for expropriation of land, which the state pays for property taken due to the construction of infrastructure projects, significantly increased in September 2016, when €800,000 was paid for this purpose. This coincided with the period preceding the parliamentary election in Montenegro.
According to the official data of the Ministry of Finance, a little less than €200,000 was paid for expropriation in the first two months of the election campaign, i.e. in July and August 2016. Out of this sum, €101,000 was paid in July, while in August, the sum was €107,000.
In September 2016, i.e. in the month prior to the parliamentary election, as much as €800,000 was paid for expropriation, which is several times more compared to the previous two months.
Out of €800,000, as much as €430 thousand was paid from the Program of the Ministry of Finance called “Policy and Regulations in the Taxation,” which, according to the budget, did not include the expropriation expenditures.
