Hydropower development plans potentially threatening the Tara River Biosphere Reserve, Montenegro
Forwarded letter of the World Fund for Nature (WWF) addressed to UNESCO, where the reaction requires the organization due to the impact of hydroelectric project on Moraca may have on the Tara River Basin National Park Durmitor.
The letter recalls the recent statement by Minister of Economy Branko Vujovic regarding the need for revision of the Declaration on the Tara River and the possible diversion of water from the Tara river to Moraca in order to maximize the profitability of the project. It also recalls the conclusions of a study by MASA, which is also related to the diversion of the script for the Tara Moraca of ensuring additional energy.
